Hi,

There's quite a few different ranges that have nearly all good products in them and avoid most of the nasties. Have you looked at the Danne Montague King range? Or Dermalogica? Or BKamins?

To go exactly by the book (which I'd of course recommend!) you'll probably find you need to go to a beauty therapist or skincare person to get exactly the right ingredients.

That said I understand that can be time-consuming & expensive so if you'd rather go budget, I'd suggest Boots or Superdrug in the UK. They usually sell 5% BP in gel format (you need to ask at the Pharmacy counter). Then for the cleanser & moisturiser go for their most basic option (ie without all the fragrances & 'deluxe' anti-wrinkle stuff that aggravates acne skin).

Good luck!
Rebecca

Hi lindamoore, i'm currently suffering from the same problem. Every cleanser, moisturisor etc has 1 of the ingredients you have told us to avoid. I was just wondering does anybody have any tips or any products out there which do and can be bought in the uk/ireland region?

Re the specific products, I'd suggest giving the salon a call and having a phone consultation with them. Their products are really medical so it depends on how your skin has developed which would be best.

That's fantastic you've got such great results! Well done :)

Re other products, I don't have anything in particular that I recommend other than BKamins. That said there's another brand that I've had brilliant results with personally myself. It's called Danne Montague King and if I can't get BKamins I often use that. Here's the website of someone I know that stocks it: http://www.thebeautytherapyroom.co.uk.

I got my b kamins deliverly from america but it was very expensive! i had to pay £20 shipping then on arrival I had to pay £23 for tax. I have finished my 8 week challenge and my skin has improved greatly. I don't want to go back to the products I was using before the challenge but I can't afford to import the moisturiser all the time. I am going through a bottle of moisturiser a month. Is there another good moisturiser out there that is oil and fragrance free that won't cause spots?

Hi, tried to order my b kamins products on bkamins.com but you have to pay quite a bit for delivery then on delivery you will have to pay duty or taxes. So it works out alot more.

To ship regular Post $16.00 USD – delivery would be in about 4 weeks

To ship Air $36.00 USD – delivery would be in about 1 week

These quotes do not include duty or taxes which may be charged upon delivery.

Hi Caz15,

Yes, unfortunately BKamins aren't importing into the UK at the moment. We're also desperately hoping they'll restart soon. In the meantime, I know several people who are ordering direct from Canada & the States (www.bkamins.com). I've heard that with the exchange rate & postage it ends up being a very similar price and only takes 4-7 days. Have a look on their website & let me know how you get on!

Good luck,

I don't know Mederma scar cream very well so I can't comment on that specifically. I'd suggest either you check this with your dermatologist or doctor if you are seeing one, and also check the ingredients yourself agains the ingredients suggested for Step 5 in the book.

When you're logged in, go to the home page http://www.skinaid.org.uk and click on 'My Dashboard' or 'Go to Admin Area' and you'll find the book at the bottom of the page.

Thank you! I’m so glad you’re getting results and its fantastic to hear your acne has gone already :) Well done.

Re the moisturiser - I’m hesitant to recommend specific brands because there are just so many that are good & I may well miss some of them! However that said, the important thing to remember is what the goal of the moisturiser is.

Yes exfoliation is really helpful, but the primary goal of the moisturiser is to moisturise. Your skin is likely to be dehydrated and aggravated after the BP. A soothing moisturiser takes care of this. So if you can’t find one that you’re happy with in your price range, then go for the next best thing. For example an Aloe Vera based moisturiser might not give quite as good results as one with all the ideal ingredients in it but it will go a long way towards helping in the meantime!

Then re coming off the pill - anything to do with your health I’d always advocate checking with your doctor first. Beyond this my opinion is that if you want to come off the pill, then so long as there’s not any medical reasons against it, just do it. Yes you may find your skin goes a little mental for a while but now you understand your skin and how it works, you are in control. If you get a mega breakout, then just apply the same techniques you are using now and eventually it will come under control.

I finally got my skin clear years ago now but as with anyone with acne-prone skin, it comes and goes. Every now and again I’ll get a big breakout again. But the difference now is I just deal with it, follow the program, treat it and it goes away (vs sticking around for years like it used to!).

Hope this helps! Do stay in touch & let us know how you’re getting on.

Hello Rebecca!

I'm on my third week with the regimen, its going really well *thanks to your info:)))*
I can really feel that my skin is getting used to the BP, its not at all as dry as it was in the start. And the acne is gone !!!
hmmm...I couldn't afford a good moisturizer containing all that stuff... I'm using one from Yves Rocher right now, Culture Bio, its organic (which I love) but doesnt contain the essential ingredients on your list.
do you know any moisturizer thats not so costy, containing at least one of the essential ingridients?
Now to my main question :-)
since I got off the pill only 3 weeks ago, my acne was not so bad at that point, it was mild-moderate. And now,3 weeks later, its completely cleared.
Should I still proceed with the 8 week program? or should I use the BP only at night, and start up the 8week program later, maybe in a couple of months?
I have been on the pill 3 times to cure my acne, and each time my skin was ok the first months after quitting, then it usually comes back:(
I'm 27 now and dont wanna be on the pill anymore.
So in this situation, Do you recommend me to proceed with the 8week regimen NOW, or .....? what should I do after the 8 weeks- use BP only at night?
I hope you will reply and I thank you for the wonderful e-book :)

I think there is many girls out there that are scared to get off the pill and the acne coming back, so your reply would help us all:)

Rebecca Page on "How to avoid bleaching?"

It depends on the brand you are using, but my experience is that the bleaching only occurs when the BP is still wet. Once it's dried you are ok.

That said, I have heard some people say that if you exercise and start sweating, that the BP can then bleach your clothing again because it sweats out. My understanding and tests is that this isn't true. Once the BP has soaked in, that's it. However depending on the brand, some of them may have other ingredients in them that could cause this.

So to be on the safe side I'd suggest that you wait until the BP has dried before you cover that area with clothing. Then if you are planning on exercising, wear light coloured clothing just in case.

Re moisturiser, yes definitely use it. Sunscreen is great but it's not a substitute. Make sure you're always putting a light layer of moisturiser over the top of your BP. If the BP has soaked in fully it shouldn't come off when you apply the moisturiser.

Glad you enjoyed the info! Have you taken your before pictures yet? Really does help to see how far you've come later on.

PS... I love the all white clothing look! Really elegant but I can see how you might get bored of it pretty quick ;)

Do you have any tip on how to avoid bleaching of clothes, while using the BP?
How fast does it soak in to the skin, and is it bleaching only when freshly applied or all day long?
I try to wear only light shirts but... I'm on my second week now so its time to wear the BP daytime aswell.I miss my colorful clothes! But I dont want my sweaters, coats and jackets (usually expensive) to get bleached :(
If you have any advice it is very welcome, dont wanna be Lady in White all my life :-)

Second question is:
doesnt the BP rub off when I put on moisturizer and sunscreen? (sometimes I put on only sunscreen, over the BP, since it is very moisturizing- hope that is ok?)

I loved all the information by the way!

I hope you will have time to reply!

:-) Tanja

Welcome to the SkinAid forums - odds are that you're here to find an answer to a question, to mingle with other people passionate about skincare or to discuss something acne-related.

Well, to have a successful forum experience there are 4 things that you want to remember:

1. Search and Browse first - If you're looking for answers to questions that have already been answered its much quicker for you to use the great big search bar at the top and to see if someone else has already asked that question.

2. Be specific - If you have a question, please be specific as possible and provide lots of information - the more you tell us about your problem, the quicker we can help you and the more likely you are to get help!

3. Help out! - The best way to get great help is to provide help yourself :) You can follow the RSS feed of these forums here or check out some unanswered posts and be all useful... we promise you'll get love in return :)

4. Be polite, courteous and say please and thanks a lot :) - Honestly it helps tons!
